Prayers and meditations from the Baha’i Writings about breast milk
”O GOD, my God! Be Thou not far from me, for tribulation upon tribulation hath gathered about me. O God, my God! Leave me not to myself, for the extreme of adversity hath come upon me. Out of the pure milk, drawn from the breasts of Thy loving-kindness, give me to drink, for my thirst hath utterly consumed me. Beneath the shadow of the wings of Thy mercy shelter me, for all mine adversaries with one consent have fallen upon me. Keep me near to the throne of Thy majesty, face to face with the revelation of the signs of Thy glory, for wretchedness hath grievously touched me. With the fruits of the Tree of Thine Eternity nourish me, for uttermost weakness hath overtaken me. From the cups of joy, proffered by the hands of Thy tender mercies, feed me, for manifold sorrows have laid mighty hold upon me. With the broidered robe of Thine omnipotent sovereignty attire me, for poverty hath altogether despoiled me. Lulled by the cooing of the Dove of Thine Eternity, suffer me to sleep, for woes at their blackest have befallen me. Before the throne of Thy oneness, amid the blaze of the beauty of Thy countenance, cause me to abide, for fear and trembling have violently crushed me. Beneath the ocean of Thy forgiveness, faced with the restlessness of the leviathan of glory, immerse me, for my sins have utterly doomed me.” - Prayers and Meditations by Bahá’u’lláh

“O HANDMAID of God!… To the mothers must be given the divine Teachings and effective counsel, and they must be encouraged and made eager to train their children, for the mother is the first educator of the child. It is she who must, at the very beginning, suckle the newborn at the breast of God’s Faith and God’s Law, that divine love may enter into him even with his mother’s milk, and be with him till his final breath.

So long as the mother faileth to train her children, and start them on a proper way of life, the training which they receive later on will not take its full effect. It is incumbent upon the Spiritual Assemblies to provide the mothers with a well-planned program for the education of children, showing how, from infancy, the child must be watched over and taught. These instructions must be given to every mother to serve her as a guide, so that each will train and nurture her children in accordance with the Teachings.

Thus will these young plants in the garden of God’s love grow and flourish under the warmth of the Sun of Truth, the gentle spring winds of Heaven, and their mother’s guiding hand. Thus, in the Abhá Paradise, will each become a tree, bearing his clustered fruit, and each one, in this new and wondrous season, out of the bounties of the spring, will become possessed of all beauty and grace.“ - ‘Abdu’l‑Bahá

Prayer for Children
O Thou pure God! I am a little child; grant that the breast of Thy loving-kindness be the breast that I cherish; suffer me to be nourished with the honey and the milk of Thy love; rear me in the bosom of Thy knowledge, and bestow upon me nobility and wisdom while I am still a child.

O Thou the Self-Sufficing God! Make me a confidant of the Kingdom of the Unseen. Verily, Thou art the Mighty, the Powerful.

—‘Abdu’l‑Bahá

Our Origin Story

The YAM Podcast was born out of a request from 31 one interviews that we did with women from around the world for a product we wanted to create called The Mama’s Daily Comfort Toolkit. These women interviewed were from 12 countries and 25 different cities, nearly one woman per new city, where we ask them the question of “What brings them comfort?”

The insights from those interviews were so insightful, we wrote down a short summary of the major themes the mamas shared with us in our interview summary blog.

There were several additional fruits that came out of those interviews as well.

One is the Yoga Avec Moi Membership Portal, a portal where women who have children between the ages of 0-5 come and share their motherhood experience, be in sisterhood and community, learn tips and tricks of how to optimize the motherhood experience and thrive with the assistance of Nahal, the Integrative Yoga Therapy framework and monthly Guest Lecture Speakers on themed topics on motherhood.

The other is our recently launched YAM Podcast, where we re-invite some of the women who were originally interviewed in the Mama’s Daily Comfort Toolkit to share on the podcast their motherhood experience, and also include interviews of Guest Expert Speakers on how to improve the motherhood experience.

As always, you can expect a new episode of the YAM Podcast every Thursdays!
