Past Participants Reviews
The Seven Valleys & Yogic Chakras workshop has been thoughtfully refined and restructured based on the valuable feedback of past participants. The upcoming version offers a more balanced and embodied experience, weaving together movement, meditation, and meaningful reflection.
To deepen the physical integration of the teachings, we've added an additional 2.5 hours of physical practices, meditations, and therapeutic yoga per Chakra and Seven Valley, bringing a fuller somatic dimension to the journey.
Expectations and the overall flow of the program will now be clearly shared both at the beginning of the workshop and during a personal 1:1 intro call with Nahal, to ensure clarity and ease from the very start.
In response to requests for more connection and shared processing, group collaboration and peer debriefing opportunities will be built into the sessions.
And while outside homework will no longer be required, ongoing self-reflection, awareness-building, and personal integration are welcomed and encouraged as part of the unfolding process.
Below, you’ll find reflections from past participants in previous versions of the workshop:
“I loved it! It helped me deepen in the Writings, explore my relationship with the mystical, and I learned a lot about yoga as well. It’s a workshop meant to deepen our understanding of yoga practice and the chakras, but it’s done through a Bahá’í framework. We learn about the soul’s approach to God and spend a lot of time reflecting on our own lives to understand where we are. There’s a very practical element to it where we break down the Writings to better understand what the markers of each Valley are. We also reflect on how we relate to each chakra and the organs associated with it. It has helped me break down the Writings into manageable chunks. It also has helped me apply the Writings to my daily life—which I haven’t really been able to do before, outside of the core activities. I feel a lot more in tune with God’s will and the Divine Plan. And if I fall out of sync, I now have the tools to get me back on track. I loved the guided meditations because I felt the most in tune with the spiritual realm then. It’s hard for me to meditate on my own, and meditation is entirely different from prayer and reading the Writings. I liked the bird part because it helped me identify where I am in my own life. Yes! I would recommend it! It’s a great way to understand the mystical through practical reflections—but I would warn them that there’s homework. The Valley of Wonderment was the most impactful for me because it taught me that confusion is part of the journey.” - Isabella, 23, Librarian
“It was good. I gleaned a lot from the classes I attended, and it made me strive for consistency with studying the Bahá’í Writings. I was mostly filming and taking part in the written activities during the workshop. One of my biggest takeaways was the importance of how relaxation can lead to holistic strength and living an optimal life. I experienced changes mostly in my mental and spiritual approach—especially in how I now engage with reading the Bahá’í Writings. I also gained a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between human anatomy, The Seven Valleys, and the main yoga chakras. Yes, I would recommend this workshop, especially to those who already have a background in yoga. One particular lesson that stood out to me was the one on the throat chakra and the importance of expressing your truth, as I am someone who is quiet and not outspoken.” - Review by Dinuk, 28, Operations Analyst
“It’s a good idea that can be developed further. We studied each Valley and reflected on some deep and powerful questions directly relating to our own lives. We also did a bit of yoga. One of my biggest takeaways was realizing that—even in my condition—yoga is possible. My favorite part of the workshop was the physical exercise. The most helpful information for me came through the physical practices.” - Saba, 58, Founder & Director of the Centre for Human Progress
“It was not what I expected it to be. It was like a university literature class. The majority of the class felt like an academic pursuit, which was not what I was expecting. I’m not sure what my biggest takeaway was. I guess I am happy to have read through The Seven Valleys. I enjoyed the yoga asanas in the earlier chakras. I liked when I was in the state of relaxation, but did not like coming out of it and then doing school work. I would not recommend it as a yoga workshop, but maybe as an academic course. I did not expect to do the homework and did not like doing the worksheets. It all felt kind of un-yoga, basically.” - Anonymous
What I thought of the Seven Valleys & Yogic Chakras was that it was pretty good. I enjoyed the yogi posture every time, and reflected during that time. I was trying to build a habit of meditating on sacred words and daily reflection. The content of the lecture part was also very impressive—I could feel that. But it is a pity because the signal was not stable, and I missed some words when I joined online. After class, even in a short time, I could feel that I was very fresh, full of energy, and very happy. I also realized that I have patience within me. The lecture and posture were my favourite parts. I really appreciated the reflection questions for each Valley’s content. It opened my mind, made me more aware of myself, and helped improve my understanding. Most importantly, I want to move forward through the best habits I built up during the course. Yes, I would recommend it—especially to join in person. It enriches the head, thought, and awareness. The materials from The Seven Valleys are very valuable. - Laurel, 40, White Collar Professional
Introduction to the Author
Nahal Haghbin (Chinese name: Chen Nana) is an Integrative Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) whose life has bridged science and spirituality, East and West, logic and mysticism. Born in Canada and raised in Tianjin, China, she carries a deep reverence for cultural nuance, holistic healing, and service to humanity.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Nahal spent the early part of her career working on global health challenges. In 2014, she served with the World Health Organization, contributing to international responses for H7N9, MERS-CoV, and Ebola outbreaks at the Assistant Director General’s Office. Her path was originally shaped by living through the SARS epidemic as a teenager in 2003—a formative experience that sparked her devotion to health and healing on a global scale.
Over time, Nahal felt called to expand her definition of “healing” beyond the physical. Through yoga therapy, she discovered a profound bridge between the somatic body, emotional well-being, and spiritual insight. This led her to create offerings that blend therapeutic yoga, embodied awareness, and mystical teachings—like the Seven Valleys & Yogic Chakras workshop.
In her work today, Nahal guides others in understanding that healing is not a destination—it’s a journey of alignment. By integrating ancient wisdom with lived experience, science with soul, she supports others in awakening to their deepest truths, and walking their own sacred path home to themselves.
